Anticipating the world's fastest-growing e-commerce sector and the demand for high-quality human resources, the 2025 E-commerce and Digital Economy Lecturer Training Program, organized by VECOM, the Department of E-commerce & Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade), and partner universities (GDU, FPT Skillking, etc.), took place in Ho Chi Minh City.
The program is considered a key activity aimed at helping lecturers update their knowledge of trends, policies, and changes in the e-commerce and digital ecosystem, thereby integrating new knowledge into teaching and ensuring students have access to industry practices. The event attracted a large number of experts, managers, and lecturers from key training institutions in the South, demonstrating the strong impact of the digital transformation wave in education.
At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Thai Ba Can – Rector of Gia Dinh University emphasized: “Given the continuous development of science and technology, regularly updating and supplementing knowledge is an essential requirement, especially in the fields of e-commerce and digital economy. This training program helps lecturers keep pace with trends, innovate methods, and improve the quality of training in the new context.”

The picture of Vietnam's "hot" growth in e-commerce.
Experts at the program highlighted the impressive growth rate of e-commerce in Vietnam, currently ranking among the top 5 fastest-growing markets in the world, with an average increase of over 20% per year over the past decade. Along with the expansion of online business activities, the demand for human resources in fields such as Digital Marketing, E-commerce Store Management, and Data Analytics is rapidly increasing. However, statistics show that 60% of e-commerce businesses face difficulties in recruitment, while only 30% of the existing workforce has received formal training.
This reality highlights the strategic role of education in providing high-quality human resources, especially in the field of Digital Marketing, where practical skills, legal knowledge, and technological adaptability are crucial.
Legal updates – the foundation for digital marketing training.
Besides market analysis, the program also focuses on updating legal regulations that directly affect digital marketing activities. Experts from VECOM introduced a series of notable adjustments in the Draft Law on E-commerce 2025 and the Law on Personal Data Protection 2025, such as:
Livestreaming and affiliate marketing will be subject to specific regulations, and those involved are responsible for ensuring the content is truthful and adheres to language and image standards.
The algorithms for displaying and evaluating products must be public and transparent; platforms must not interfere with or distort the feedback results.
Protecting personal data has become a mandatory requirement; the collection and processing of user information must have explicit consent.
These changes place new demands on instructors to update the curriculum, helping students better understand the legal and ethical aspects of digital marketing – a fundamental element of sustainable development in the digital environment.
FPT Skillking and GDU – Two shared perspectives on digital workforce training.

Representatives from the FPT Skillking (FPT Academy International) Digital Marketing faculty stated that after the training course, the school will adjust its teaching materials and lectures to be more practical, incorporating new topics such as e-commerce law, cross-border e-commerce, and sustainable e-commerce (green e-commerce). The goal is to help students not only master theory but also apply their knowledge to practice through projects, internships, and professional training. Simultaneously, students are encouraged to pursue international certifications in e-commerce, AI, and IT to enhance their competitiveness in the digital job market.
Following the same direction, Gia Dinh University also focuses on cooperating with businesses and professional associations to expand learning, experience, and practice opportunities for students, linking training with industry practices.
Towards a sustainable e-commerce training ecosystem.
In the near future, FPT Skillking plans to collaborate with VecomNet to implement a series of activities including in-depth training on cross-border e-commerce, company visits, internships, and e-commerce application competitions for students. These activities will not only help lecturers continuously update their knowledge but also contribute to the national goal for the 2026-2030 period: training 1,000,000 businesses, households, managers, and students with e-commerce application skills, promoting the sustainable development of Vietnam's digital economy.
Therefore, the 2025 e-commerce and digital technology lecturer training event is not only a professional development activity, but also a microcosm of the national digital workforce development strategy, where schools, businesses, and management agencies work together to create a knowledge foundation for the digital age.
